Obesity epidemic of India

Image
Obesity in India is on the rise. It has reached enormous proportions. As I sit and count at airports, the number of women who look obviously overweight and obese, the figures I get is 8 out of 10. And this is around same in children of all sexes and around 6 in 10 men show clearcut overweight and obesity that is obvious even to naked eye. Anthropometric measurements might reveal more of them.  What are the likely causes? I have a theory that starts analysing these cases right from the 2000s or previous century. Junk food eating and sedantry lifestyle had already given an upward push to obesity in last century. And this also gave rise to diabetes mellitus in both men and women. Hence, such mothers also had diabetes in pregnancy. Some who did not have diabetes otherwise had gestational diabetes. From 2000 to 2026 prevalence of gestational diabetes has risen in india. It has even spread to rural areas and recent national data gives a figure of 22.4% which is almost 1 in 4 pregnant mot...

Men's health suffers the most following divorce, study reveals

Image
We know that a number of factors can affect health. This includes divorce but the impact of it is more on the husband's health than that of the wife. A woman is less dependent on a man but the reverse is true. A man is more dependent on a woman and hence post-divorce, his health suffers more.  Divorce and its immense effect on man's health Men health is closely linked to a married life unlike a woman. If a man divorces, the ill-effects on his health are enormous. In fact, it is the biggest threat for them. scientists from the University of Copenhagen have shown that if a man lives without a family for over 7 years, his risk of heart attacks, senile dementia and early death rises tremendously.  The study showed that after a divorce, a man has increased levels of interleukin-6 and C- reactive protein in his body. The inflammatory processes increase by 17%. This is due to stress. These harden the arteries, cause blockages in them leading to heart attacks and strokes. Tumors...

"Money, Money"-WHO showing a bias towards covid-19 vaccines completing ignoring role of natural immunity in infection protection!!!

Image
WHO and it's biased role Increasingly people are questioning the biased role of WHO in this current coronavirus pandemic. It is talking about and promoting covid-19 vaccine but is totally ignoring and not talking about natural immunity in infection protection. On one hand, WHO is stating that both natural infection and vaccines provide equal protection from covid-19 virus and on the other hand, it is aggressively advocating immunization for the masses. It is deliberately not giving any importance to natural infection and it's vital role in preventing second infection from the virus. This medical organization seems to be totally relying on only one step to control the pandemic, namely vaccination. Why? Natural infection and antibodies Scientific studies so far have clearly shown that natural antibodies provide the best and longer-lasting protection as compared to any of the currently available vaccines against covid-19. Despite all these peer-reviewed data and publications, WH...

What is norovirus? What are it's symptoms and how to prevent it's infection?

Image
Norovirus, also called the winter vomiting bug causes a significant number of cases of gastroenteritis in the world. It causes, vomiting, loose motions, and gastric pain. Fever with or without headache might be present. Usually, dehydration is less but common in young, old, and those that have co-morbid conditions.  Norovirus The virus gets its name from Norwalk in Ohio where it was first reported in 1968. It is a non-enveloped virus and is a single-stranded positive-sense RNA virus. RNA is around 7.5 kB long. The virus has an icosahedral structure.  It replicates cytoplasmically. It has 7 genogroups and several genotypes. Most infections are of genogroups GI and GII. Infectivity is high and just 5-20 viral particles can cause it. Transmission is person to person and through contaminated surfaces and food. Salad and shellfish are notorious to cause it.  Breathing aerolized particles can also cause infection. Viral shedding continues for a long time after symptoms su...

Celibacy is higher in Gen Z: reasons and its benefits?

Image
New research has revealed that the Generation Z is less active in sex life in comparison to the previous generations. The people in the age group of 18 to 24 years abstain more than their predecessors. Why is this so? The new study on sex life and people LoveHoney in collaboration with Kinsey Institute did the research on sex during and after the covid pandemic. Lovehoney’s scientific advisor, Dr. Justin Lehmiller states: “ The study focused on sex and relationships during and after the pandemic, revealing the 18-24 demo to be the least sexually active of all age groups,” 49% of youth in the age group of 18-24 years said that sex during first date is a dealbreaker. The couple differ in their ideas about it. This was significantly higher than 36% in the 25-34 age group and 30% in the 35-45 age group.  Read here on  https://healthfitnessnwellnessblog.blogspot.com/2021/12/quail-and-quail-eggs-their-nutritive.html The plausible reason for celibacy in gen z Justin feels that ...

Quail and quail eggs: their nutritive value, benefits, and comparison with hen eggs

A novel drug against coronavirus is under study at Washington University School of Medicine in the USA

Image
Scientists at Washington University School of Medicine in the US have developed a new antiviral compound that blocks covid virus from entering human cells. They have named this compound MM3122. They state that if given early in the disease course they could reduce severity of the dreaded illness.  Mechanism of action of MM3122 The compound acts on the key human protein called transmembrane serine protease 2 (TMPRSS2). Covid-19, other coronaviruses and influenza virus uses this protein to enter and infect human cells. James W Janetka, senior author of this study states: “Great vaccines are now available for SARS-CoV-2, but we still need effective antiviral medications to help curb the severity of this pandemic,”  “The compound we are developing prevents the virus from entering cells,” They want to develop an oral form of this inhibitor that could help in covid infection and minimize its severity. The authors add that the compound also blocks another related protein called...
