Why divorce should be easy!

Couples come together for a common purpose. They bear children and start parenting them. But at times, they may grow apart and not want to remain a couple. They may want to separate. But society and law often prevents this separation. Because they feel that children might get affected due to the separation. Hence, law has made divorce difficult and asks couples the reason for the separation. They need to show some fault in the partner in order to get legal separation. But this only opens another Pandora's box in which false accusations and blame game begins. This is unhealthy and stressful not only for the couple but also for their children. Divorce of their parents does affect children. It can lead to stress and academic struggles in them. They might suffer severe mental stress and demonstrate behaviour changes in them. They may have anxiety, depression, feeling of guilt and shame and sadness. This may affect them in school and their social circle. They could become an object of r...

Celibacy is higher in Gen Z: reasons and its benefits?

New research has revealed that the Generation Z is less active in sex life in comparison to the previous generations. The people in the age group of 18 to 24 years abstain more than their predecessors. Why is this so?

The new study on sex life and people

LoveHoney in collaboration with Kinsey Institute did the research on sex during and after the covid pandemic. Lovehoney’s scientific advisor, Dr. Justin Lehmiller states:

The study focused on sex and relationships during and after the pandemic, revealing the 18-24 demo to be the least sexually active of all age groups,”

49% of youth in the age group of 18-24 years said that sex during first date is a dealbreaker. The couple differ in their ideas about it. This was significantly higher than 36% in the 25-34 age group and 30% in the 35-45 age group.

The plausible reason for celibacy in gen z

Justin feels that this generation are more happy with their me time. He said:

A majority of singles came into the summer of 2021 feeling sexually curious and ready to find passionate connection, but were feeling more protective of their ‘me time,’ Gen Z is being less active and overall taking things slower in relationships.”

These people are happy with celibacy and feel it helps them connect with themselves, find internal peace, have self-love, and enhance their mental health. They are sharing their abstinence experiences online. Type the hashtag #celibacy on TikTok and you will know the number of people in this age group who are practicing celibacy.

Many have completed avoided sex and are resetting goals for it. There are some who are trying to overcome their promiscuous behavior. And others are trying to abstain after a bad split and trying to focus on oneself and their career.

Is abstinence good or bad?

A lot of myths exist on celibacy and its good and bad things. But none have any solid evidence for it. People claim that abstinence makes a person smarter. But some limited studies have failed to support this myth. And the fact is that it does not have any effect on a person's brain growth or his or her intelligence level. It does help one to concentrate on self which otherwise one usually overlooks. Celibacy can help a person nurture hobbies and leisuretime activities which many nowadays find more interesting than sex. Sex is after all a primitive instinct and humans have the power to control it. Internet and various games allow the people of these days to remain occupied and overcome their emotions.

Further scientific evidence-based studies on role of celibacy and its effect on a person's life would assist the world to know it better.
