Why review article writing for academic journals is no more fun?

Review article writing for academic journals used to be fun. Putting all the available data and updates into a systematic way that would be useful for readers and students. But this seems to be a thing of the past. Publishing houses and journal editors have made this simple process cumbersome and irritating thanks to the confines of structure in which you are supposed to put forth your points.  1. This does not actually help the readers in any way. Readers want a simple article that has all the information and is comprehensive and easy to decipher. Why should readers be bothered to know on how you gathered your data and information? But journals now insist on methodology even for review article. It is a useless exercise. 2. Even if authors put the methodology, how are editors going to confirm that it is an accurate one? 3. What about the author's own expertise in the subject? If the author is an expert on the subject, the author would intuitively know what is right and wrong and pu...

Men's health suffers the most following divorce, study reveals

We know that a number of factors can affect health. This includes divorce but the impact of it is more on the husband's health than that of the wife. A woman is less dependent on a man but the reverse is true. A man is more dependent on a woman and hence post-divorce, his health suffers more.

Divorce and its immense effect on man's health

Men health is closely linked to a married life unlike a woman. If a man divorces, the ill-effects on his health are enormous. In fact, it is the biggest threat for them. scientists from the University of Copenhagen have shown that if a man lives without a family for over 7 years, his risk of heart attacks, senile dementia and early death rises tremendously.

The study showed that after a divorce, a man has increased levels of interleukin-6 and C- reactive protein in his body. The inflammatory processes increase by 17%. This is due to stress. These harden the arteries, cause blockages in them leading to heart attacks and strokes. Tumors develop and senior dementia set in. Early death results.

Study details

The researchers recruited 4800 people between the age of 48 and 62 years. There were both men and women participants. Their history and blood tests were carried out. The scientists noted that the inflammatory changes were less or absent if the relationship ended after being in it for long time or when the men stayed alone for long. This implies that adjustment and adaptation occurred with time.
