Why review article writing for academic journals is no more fun?

Review article writing for academic journals used to be fun. Putting all the available data and updates into a systematic way that would be useful for readers and students. But this seems to be a thing of the past. Publishing houses and journal editors have made this simple process cumbersome and irritating thanks to the confines of structure in which you are supposed to put forth your points.  1. This does not actually help the readers in any way. Readers want a simple article that has all the information and is comprehensive and easy to decipher. Why should readers be bothered to know on how you gathered your data and information? But journals now insist on methodology even for review article. It is a useless exercise. 2. Even if authors put the methodology, how are editors going to confirm that it is an accurate one? 3. What about the author's own expertise in the subject? If the author is an expert on the subject, the author would intuitively know what is right and wrong and pu...

Coronavirus traces found in Europe, USA, Brazil, and Japan much before their respective first covid-19 case reporting

Image
China is being blamed for the current coronavirus pandemic that hit the world so badly. But there are some findings to the contrary. New data reveals that cases were present in smaller numbers in Europe, USA, Brazil, and Japan even before each of these countries reported them after China first reported it.  Retro testing of blood samples Some countries such as Italy, Spain, France, USA, Brazil, and Japan did testing for covid-19 on stored or fresh blood samples collected before January 2020 or in between January 2020 and March 2020 respectively. And there were positive results for covid-19 in some of these blood samples of individuals who were either sick or died due to the infection.  In the USA, as early as December 2019 blood tested had antibodies for the novel virus. And these antibodies take 14 days to develop. This implies that even before their first reported case of covid on 21 January 2020, there were cases already on the American soil. Image
We usually talk about chronological age. But there is another new type of age that doctors on Stanford 1000 Immunomes Project are able to determine. It is called immune age and it has fairly good predictive capacity of aging. The study Researchers on Stanford 1000 Immunomes Project assessed 50 inflammatory markers called cytokines in blood of volunteers and linked it with aging, inflammation, body fraility, and chronic illnesses. Gene activation and immune responses were also carried out in the collected cells.  They also estimated these in adults over 60 years, over 65 years, and in centenarians. They used artificial intelligence (AI) called deep neural network to estimate the immune age or iAge.
