Psychiatrists and psychologists treat mental issues of their patients. But what about their own mental illnesses?  Psychiatrists and psychologists are more ill mentally  Doctors   are in great stress during their training as well as career period. The workload, busy and fast life schedules, and higher expectations and competitiveness and the nature of the job itself leads to a sense of exhaustion, both physical and mental. There is a heavy burnout. Moreover, time for socialization is almost nil.  Hence, doctors are in grave risk of suffering from mental health illnesses. And in this, psychiatrists and psychologists have a higher risk and incidence of mental health issues.  It is a sad truth that psychiatrists and psychologists are more ill mentally than general public or other doctors. Why is sugar harmful for the body?

Sugars are monosaccharides or disaccharides that are present naturally in fruits or available as sucrose or refined sugar. They add sweetness to foods. But studies have revealed that excessive consumption of sugars is bad for health. It causes weight gain and chronic diseases in the long term. 


Sugars are simple carbs. Each gram of it provides 4 calories. But eating them leaves us yearning for more. It's capacity to make you feel full is limited. Hence you tend to overeat foods containing them. This leads to weight gain, overweight and obesity.

In the first two hours of eating sugars, you feel energetic. You are alert and your mood is uplifted. You feel energetic. But after that comes the crash. As your blood sugar normalizes, you feel tired and fatigued. You get headaches, feel sleepy and there is an increased urge to urinate. 



Moreover, sugar can increase heart diseases, cause body inflammation and atherosclerosis, cancer, and type 2 diabetes. It is linked to cognitive decline. It reduces magnesium levels of blood and cause bad dental hygiene. 


Hence, sugar free diet is recommended for weight lowering and health reasons.
