Thermoregulation is a normal process in warm blooded animals including humans that tries to maintain body temperature. Hypothalamus in brain, thermoreceptors, skin sweat glands, blood vessels, and hormones such as thyroid hormones all coordinate and function together to retain body heat or cause loss of excess body heat.  Thermoregulation in humans  When external temperature rises, sweat glands start producing sweat which on evaporation carries the body heat with it. Blood vessels of skin dilate and release beat to atmosphere. Thyroid hormones decreases production to reduce body metabolic rate. All this is regulated via hypothalamus and receptors. Thirst centre is also activated to cause intake of water to replenish body water loss. Urine output also falls to reduce water loss since excess water is being lost via sweat production and evaporation.  When outside temperature falls, sweat glands decrease sweat production, skin blood vessels dilate and thyroid hormones product...

Global peace index 2020!

Global peacefulness has been showing a decline in the last decade. This is not a good sign. There are intercountry and intercountry conflicts and frictions. And if this continues, it would have a bad impact on world living, economy, and people's well-being.

Global peace index chart reveals that global peace is at risk due to various race and religious conflicts. For calculating peace index of a nation, 23 quantitative and qualitative indicators are taken and each is weighted on a scale of 1-5. The lower the score of GPI, the more peaceful is the country. 

Why is vaccination rate low in USA? 

In 2020, countries have shown an average of 0.34 percentage decline in GPI scores. The covid crisis added to the already prevailing regional tensions in the world.

Iceland tops the list with a score of 1.078. It is the most peaceful country and holds this first position since 2008. New Zealand, Austria, Portugal, and Denmark are not far behind Iceland. The least peaceful is Afghanistan with a GPI score of 3.644. Syria, Iraq, South Sudan and Yemen are just a small fraction above Afghanistan. Bhutan and Nepal are also peaceful nations and are in the top 100 peaceful country list. UK stands at number 42 and France is 66th in the list. Bangladesh is on 97 position. China is on 104. USA is on position no. 121 and Russia on 154. But both countries have improved on their scores compared to old scores. India is on number 139 and Pakistan on 152. India's GPI score was 2.477 in 2008 and it has fallen to 2.628.
