Psychiatrists and psychologists have higher incidence of mental illness in themselves!

Psychiatrists and psychologists treat mental issues of their patients. But what about their own mental illnesses?  Psychiatrists and psychologists are more ill mentally  Doctors   are in great stress during their training as well as career period. The workload, busy and fast life schedules, and higher expectations and competitiveness and the nature of the job itself leads to a sense of exhaustion, both physical and mental. There is a heavy burnout. Moreover, time for socialization is almost nil.  Hence, doctors are in grave risk of suffering from mental health illnesses. And in this, psychiatrists and psychologists have a higher risk and incidence of mental health issues.  It is a sad truth that psychiatrists and psychologists are more ill mentally than general public or other doctors. Johnny Ruffo: his health journey, diagnosis of brain cancer, and his career!

 Australian singer-songwriter cum actor, Johnny Ruffo is just 32 years of age. Three years back in 2017, his doctors diagnosed him with a cancerous brain tumor when he had a migraine. He underwent an operation for removal of the tumor and also was put on aggressive therapy for brain cancer. He was cleared of it but has a relapse last week.

Australian singer-songwriter was a highly talented musician and also an actor. But most of the time, life is not generous on good and talented individuals. He had a diagnosis of brain cancer on him three years back. On 10 August 2017, Johnny revealed that he had brain surgery for removal of a brain tumor. He had approached doctors for treatment of migraine when it came to light that he actually had a brain tumor.

A biopsy taken from the site was sent for histopathological investigation and the result was that the tumor was cancerous. A week later, Johnny posted on his Instagram that since it was a cancerous growth, he will be put on aggressive chemotherapy to stop the cancer growth.

In May 2019, Johnny gave a radio interview in which he revealed that he was cleared of cancer.

THE RELAPSE OF BRAIN CANCER

Last week, Johnny again posted on his Instagram the sad and heartbreaking news that his brain cancer has relapsed. He wrote:

"After an unexpected week of seizures and excruciating headaches it is with a heavy heart that i have to let you know i now have another huge battle ahead of me as my brain cancer has returned."

He added:

"Though i will dig deep and beat this sht disease again 👊🏽💜 #fckcancer"

Johnny’s post exuded optimism thanks to the strong moral support he has from his girlfriend, Tahnee Sims. On 30 November 2020, Tahnee uploaded a collage of black and white photos of the couple and captioned the series:

"What a superstar 💜,"

In the past, on several occasions, Johnny had talked about his supportive girlfriend and gushed about her. He had credited her with saving his life and making him laugh and remain happy against all odds.

JOHNNY AND HIS CAREER

After he was said to have cleared cancer, Johnny in June 2019 released his new single called Broken Glass. He had said at that time:

"This song is probably the most vulnerable song I've written. It's very personal for me. It's loosely about my experiences in the past two or three years – and about being down and out – not necessarily about cancer, but about anything like depression or losing a loved one."

Johnny started his music career at the age of 12. His inspiration was Michael Jackson. He learned to play guitar and piano and wrote his first song when he was 14. He started work as a concreter and also used to perform with the band Supanova around Perth.

In 2011, he auditioned for The X Factor Australia season 3. Guy Sebastian was his mentor. He was third on the show. He soon started recording with a major record label and released several singles and also appeared in albums and music videos. Johnny also did films and starred in Dancing with the Stars as a contestant. In 2020, he was seen in Neighbours. He has two nominations on his name but no wins.
