Why divorce should be easy!

Couples come together for a common purpose. They bear children and start parenting them. But at times, they may grow apart and not want to remain a couple. They may want to separate. But society and law often prevents this separation. Because they feel that children might get affected due to the separation. Hence, law has made divorce difficult and asks couples the reason for the separation. They need to show some fault in the partner in order to get legal separation. But this only opens another Pandora's box in which false accusations and blame game begins. This is unhealthy and stressful not only for the couple but also for their children. Divorce of their parents does affect children. It can lead to stress and academic struggles in them. They might suffer severe mental stress and demonstrate behaviour changes in them. Politicians vs doctors: who would you support? Who is right?

 Politicians have power but lack knowledge. Whereas doctors have knowledge but lesser power. The end result is that politicians decide things that ideally doctors should. 

Remember the coronavirus days when the school dropout PM of India told people to beat utensils and plates to appreciate doctors. And at the same time, people there were dying due to lack of oxygen and coronavirus. Did this act help people or the doctors in any way? Not at all. It was a foolish act of a megalomaniac politician. Shameful act! In fact, in many religions, banging plates is considered bad because it implies the person doing it is hungry and begs for food! Many educated people there also had done that nonsensical act! It was an act of weak minds on their part to do so!!!

Now, in the USA, some states have banned abortion. This is the whimsical act of lawmakers who remain unaware of its repercussions. But a new study has proven that banning abortion is wrong and can lead to rise in maternal sepsis (whole body systemic infection) and even death of mothers-to-be. 


Texas wrong ban on abortion 

Texas has banned medical abortions. In that state, doctors who perform abortions would he penalized heavily. This could be a jail term from two to twenty years with charges of second degree felony. If the charge is of first degree felony, the prison term may be as high as 5-99 years. Moreover, there would be fines as well as cancellation of medical license of these convicted doctors. 

Therefore, to not get penalized, doctors prefer to go into the defensive mode. They wait and watch when a pregnant lady in second or third trimester comes with bleeding from vagina. It could be a spontaneous stillbirth. The doctors need to act fast to save the mother. 

However, they do not do any life-saving heroic measures. Instead, these doctors now wait until the fetal heart sounds are no more heard before they evacuate the fetal products and placenta from the womb of the mother.

But this late action puts the mother at risk. In many cases, she ends up having an infection spread to her body from the womb and dies with generalized sepsis. Her death was preventable. But the abortion ban led to her death. She would have otherwise lived and survived had the wrong law not been in place. 

Pro-publica article 

Several studies post-ban has shown that several women died in pregnancy due to it. Also there was rise in infant mortality post-ban. 

The current study in Pro-Publica investigated seven years of hospital discharge records of Texas (2017-2023). The year of COVID pandemic lockdown was excluded. 

The study showed that post ban on abortion in Texas, maternal sepsis rates and deaths rose. This was despite the fact that the maternal death of USA had dropped during the same period. 

These pregnant women who died were admitted in hospital for premature rupture of membrane. This is premature breaking of their bag of waters. If womb evacuation was performed early, the bacteria from these ruptured membranes would not have descended upwards and spread to the body of the pregnant lady. Since evacuation was delayed, the harmful organisms spread to her body causing sepsis and death in her.

“The standard of care for miscarrying patients in the second trimester is to offer to empty the uterus, according to leading medical organizations, which can lower the risk of contracting an infection and developing sepsis. If a patient’s water breaks or her cervix opens, that risk rises with every passing hour.”

Thus, the abortion ban is not pro-life because it has taken away a mother's valuable life. It does not stand for women's life or for her freedom to choose what she wants in life. 

There are many other areas to fight on and debate for lawmakers. These include healthcare uplift, environmental salvage, housing, potable water, sanitation, occupational health, police brutality, capital punishment, unemployment, poverty, etc. Why are they not discussing on this? Why are they hard bend on snatching away the freedom of women??? Women should raise their voice against this injustice. Let doctors speak. Silence the illiterate politicians and choose educated people for that post!!!

 Covid-19 pandemic started in Wuhan in China. This was in December 2019. But China continues to state that though the first cases of Covid-19 were detected in Wuhan, it never originated there.
