Milk in Nepal and India: the difference!

 I have observed that whenever milk ferments when I am in India, the paneer or cottage cheese does not come out easily. Even if I boil it and add lime juice to it, the cheese formed is quite little and more powdery than cheesy.  But when the same happens in Nepal, the cheese formation is immediate, dense and cheesy. I do not have to do more efforts to get cottage cheese out of the milk in Nepal. What is the reason? I checked internet and found some factors that can affect the quality and amount of cheese  1.  Food is an essential commodity and people aim to have a good and nutritious food within their budget.  But there are certain food items that are so exorbitantly expensive that a general person cannot even think about it. So which are these unimaginable but desired food substances in the world? 

When we talk of these products we are not talking about fine dining. We are not talking about the finished on-the-plate products, but the core ingredients that are hugely costly. They are beyond a common man's pocket. 

1. Vanilla: When we are eating ice creams, many people will frown at this flavor and go fir another one. For them, this is the basic flavor to be ignored. But if you know the cost of vanilla, you may want to have it next time. It costs around USD 4000 per lbs!!! Its flower blooms only fir a few hours in one year and has less pollination. It is not so easily available in market.

2. White truffles: It is an underground fungus that is eaten in Europe but common in Italy. It is a delicacy and usually it is served with scrambled eggs. It costs 7000 euros per kg. It is added to luxury dishes.

3. Foie Gras: This is a non-veg item. It is liver of duck or goose and is fattened before adding to dishes or serving. Its texture is smooth and tastes like offal if you have eaten that. It is more than 150 USD for 2 lbs. 

4. Densuke watermelon: This rare watermelon is from Japan. It has black color and very limited in production. Besides it is more sweet and delicious and also crunchier. That explains its high cost. At an auction in Japan, it was sold for $6100!

5. Saffron: Iran has the best saffron that is sold for thousands of dollars per kg. It is a royal food element and the plant takes three years for cultivation. Hence the high price. It is made into filaments that are later dried. 

6. Almas caviar: It is roe (eggs) of a special variety of sturgeon called Beluga sturgeon huso huso. This fish is in the Caspian Sea near Iran. There are done in Black Sea and Adriatic Sea. The cost range is $7000-10000 per kg. Caviar is used for spread or garnish. It is packed in tin containers of 24 karat gold. This is sold at $25000.

7. Yubari King melon: This is another watermelon that has made it to this list of most expensive foods. It also is cultivated in Japan and is orange inside. It is sweeter than the regular watermelon. Its cost is approx. $5000 per piece. Its supply is ver less compared to its demand and hence cultivators often auction it. In one such cost, a person had bid it for $ 23k for one piece and won the bid. 

8. Bluefin tuna: This fish is an endangered species yet its supply continues and also demand but at a higher price. It has red tender meat and costs more than $4000 per pound. The dishes made out of this aquatic creature is also correspondingly expensive. 

La Bonnotte potatoes from France, eel fish, oysters available at Coffin Bay in Australia, Hacienda la Esmeralda coffee, Scottish lobster, black truffle, Wagyu beef, Matsutake mushrooms, Balsamico vinegar, moose milk cheese from Moose farm in Sweden, Matcha Green tea, and bird's nest (red) made from bird saliva are other costly delicacies of the world.
