Victoria Beckham and her mercury poisoning

The wife of the legendary football player from the UK, David Beckham, singer Victoria Beckham used to consume a lot of fish in her daily meals. The Spice Girl member loved having fish and also was on a vegetarian diet. But last year, doctors found high levels of mercury in her body and have advised reducing fish in her food.

Last year, Victoria was at the posh Lanserhof health spa in Germany. At that time, tests done on her revealed high levels of the toxic metal mercury in her body. Since the source of this mercury is most likely from fish, she has to stop eating excessively of it. A source told The Sun UK:

“Victoria had off the scale levels of mercury,”

The insider added:

“So doctors gave her a liver flush to help rid the body of toxins.”

But the source said that the former Spice Girl is still having a lot of fish but she has stopped the intake of tuna and swordfish. These two types of fish presumably have high levels of methylmercury in them. The source said:

“She feels brilliant and is as lean and fit as ever,”

Robbie Williams, the rocker also told Radio X Network that he also had toxic levels of mercury in his body following his pescatarian diet
. He said:

“I was eating fish twice a day and I’ve got the highest mercury poisoning the doctor has ever seen,”

What is mercury poisoning?

Mercury in high levels is toxic for the body cells. It can kill them and hence is dangerous for the body. It can cause irritability, depression, memory loss, and also numbness. In some, when the levels reach toxic levels it can cause tremors, blindness, kidney failure and is even fatal. Hence it should be avoided and if found to be high in the body, appropriate treatment should be sought.
