Educated daughters vs strong daughters: The difference

Indian government, Indian law, and pro-female organizations in that land talk about increasing education of girls and women. I get very amused at this ineffective and useless propoganda that does nothing great to help the girl child and women. This is because most women even if educated are unable to continue work, career or do entrepreneurship because their parents or in-laws or community will not allow them. So it means educate them for namesake and then make them stagnant to do caring and cooking jobs at home. In short, educate them and again throw them in the same gutter or furnace as before. Education gives them no financial independence, no autonomy, no freedom to decide for self or children. Then what is the role of education for them? Nothing. I pity the parents who think that educating a daughter makes them finish their duty towards her. They continue to rear her as a cow or sheep. New reflective safety vests for food delivery drivers and the new rules related to them in China!

 When we talk of wellness, we mean wellness of not only oneself but also of society. China too believes in it and over the last few years, it has witnessed a number of accidents involving food delivery system of the country. In an attempt to keep punctuality of delivery of foods to customers, delivery drivers often drive rash leading to a number of accidents. Many lives were lost due to it and hence the traffic department of Pudong New Area and Shanghai have enforced certain requirements for these drivers. 

New requirements for food delivery drivers

The traffic police department of Pudong New Area and East China's Shanghai has put in place certain specific requirements as regards the food delivery system. They have asked the food delivery boys to wear reflective safety vests with their unique number printed on it. This system was introduced on 29 March 2020 and has been applauded by the Chinese citizens. Until now, 18000 food delivery drivers have registered for the new food delivery management system.

These new reflective safety vests will protect the drivers themselves from the likelihood of being hit or run over by other heavy vehicles on the road. The highlighted coats would make them prominent and easily visible even in dim lighting conditions and at night times. 

The number on the vest and its significance

Besides, the number on the vest would make these drivers easily identifiable by the traffic violation system. These drivers in their hurry tend to break a number of traffic rules and could not be caught due to the difficulty of knowing who was responsible for the violation. But these numbers would make them easily identifiable and hence the traffic police can supervise them and keep a check on them. Each number is connected with the identity of the food delivery driver.

The traffic police department of the area has also some agreement with the local food delivery companies and have set rules as regards the criteria for recruitment of these drivers with them. Also, there are points with each traffic violation that the driver does. If the traffic violation points accumulated are 12 or more in one quarter then the driver has to restudy the traffic rules online. If the points gathered are 24 or more than the driver has to do some volunteer services on the streets of the locality. And if the points are more than 36, then he can no more work with the food delivery establishment. 

Chinese netizens and their response to the new system

The local citizens are happy with these new rules. They feel that this would help cut down the accidents involving both the drivers and the pedestrians. They felt that safety matters the most and such safety measures should be implemented in the whole country.

The citizens have said that most of the people are not fussy about the punctuality of food deliveries and hence the drivers should rest assured on this aspect of the journey and food delivery. They also feel that the companies of food delivery should also not put too much pressure on these drivers as regards the punctuality in food deliveries. Some said: 

“such exclusive vests will be a good reminder regarding traffic safety for food delivery drivers”
